The track layout at Wilsdruff train station was initially rather simplistic. The original station building had two floors, a one-story extension and a small goods shed. The first locomotive shed of Wilsdruff was located at what later became the Nossen head of the station and only offered space for parking of two locomotives. With the extension of the narrow-gauge railway to Nossen and increasing traffic volumes, the station was literally bursting at the seams.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, the facilities were not extensively expanded until 1908\/09. At this time, the station building received a second floor throughout and the goods shed was extended. The new four-stand locomotive shed (also called a boiler house in Saxon parlance) was completely rebuilt at its current location on the south side of the station. After more than a decade it no longer met the requirements, which is why two new stands were added to the west side in 1927. Before it was named a railway depot, the locomotive shed was expanded again in 1951 with an extensive expansion of the workshop in a new hall wing on the west side. At this time, Wilsdruff train station had reached its greatest extent.<\/p>\n<p>Mit R&uuml;ckgang des Verkehrsaufkommens und der Einstellung der Strecke nach Mei&szlig;en 1966 verloren der Bahnhof Wilsdruff und das Bahnbetriebswerk zunehmend an Bedeutung. Schlie&szlig;lich verlie&szlig; am 28. Mai 1972 der letzte Personenzug nach Freital den Wilsdruffer Bahnhof. Die Gleisanlagen in Wilsdruff wurden 1973 demontiert, w&auml;hrend im Lokschuppen fortan Zylinderk&ouml;pfe f&uuml;r Diesellokomotiven aufgearbeitet wurden. Als 1996 die Aufarbeitungswerkstatt ihre Pforten schloss, war auch dieses Kapitel f&uuml;r immer Eisenbahngeschichte. An eine Weiternutzung des Gel&auml;ndes als Bahnanlage dachten zu diesem Zeitpunkt nur ganz wenige. Noch einige Jahre sollten vergehen, bis im Herbst 2005 die von der <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wilsdruff.de\">Stadt Wilsdruff <\/a>gemeinsam mit der <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wilsdruffer-schmalspurnetz.de\/en\/ig-verkehrsgeschichte\/\">IG\u00ad\u00a0Verkehrsgeschichte<\/a> und dem <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ssb-sachsen.de\/\">VSSB <\/a>erarbeitete Ideenskizze f\u00fcr die k\u00fcnftige Nutzung des Bahnhofsgel\u00e4nde vorlag. Das Konzept beinhalthttp:\/\/test.wilsdruffeete u.\u00a0a. eine Nutzung des Empfangsgeb\u00e4udes als Veranstaltungs- und Begegnungszentrum, die Nutzung des Lokschuppens als Eisenbahn\u00admuseum und einen Draisinenbetrieb als touristische Attraktion.<\/p>\n<p>Mit Unterst\u00fctzung durch F\u00f6rdermittel der Europ\u00e4ischen Union (EFRE-Programm zur Revitalisierung von Verkehrsbrachen und zur Stadtkernsanierung) konnten die Weichen endg\u00fcltig in Richtung Zukunft gestellt werden. Die Arbeiten zur Um\u00adgestaltung des Bahnhofes begannen zum Jahresende 2006 mit dem Teilabriss des Lokschuppens. Anfang 2007 erfolgte zeitgleich der Baustart f\u00fcr Sanierung und Umbau des Lokschuppens und des Bahnhofs\u00adgeb\u00e4udes.<\/p>\n<p>Der Aufbau der Gleisanlagen begann erst im Fr\u00fchjahr 2009.
